During dance this term we have been exploring how a dance can show different personalities. We looked at Matthew Bourne’s version of The Nutcracker and compared the Marshmallow characters to the Gobstopper characters. You learnt the Marshmallow dance and were AMAZING. If you can remember the dance you learnt why not perform it for an adult – a link to the music is below.

The Nutcracker - Music for Marshmallow Dance

Watch the video below of the Gobstopper dance. Think about how the Gobstoppers move and act and see if you can make up your own Gobstopper dance.

TASK – Look at the two pictures, one of the Gobstoppers and one of the Marshmallows. The costumes are an important part of their character, write a short description of each.

TASK – Listen to both pieces of music again, try to come up with 5 words which describe each piece of music. Once you have your two lists, see if they match up / are similar to your descriptions of the costumes.
