Last half term in Maple class were looking at earthquakes and volcanoes. Throughout the half term, we have been using different techniques to understand how earthquakes and volcanoes impact the environment and show what happens. We have taken part in making a seismometer to measure an earthquake. We have also made a building out of spaghetti and marshmallows. This was then placed on some jelly and wobbled to show the impact of how the earth moves in an earthquake. The class know the Makaton sign for earthquake and built a house to knock down with giant bricks.
In art, Maple class made volcano craft. These crafts consisted of zippy wallet painting to show the explosion of a volcano and a collage of a volcano. We also used clay to make a volcano. We have also completed a volcano experiment to show the eruption. All the pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the topic this half term. Great work Maple class!
